Education does not qualify you as a leader, and
appointments do not qualify you as a leader, but taking
meaningful actions in moments that meet people where
they are can give you the necessary credentials to stand on
the platform of leadership and lead with conviction. Your
actions as a leader can instill hope during uncertainty, and
at the same time activate fear in the minds of those who are
unsure. Strong leaders have the capacity to make those
around them much better by creating a zone of safety that
gives them the freedom to operate and explore outside of
the fear of making mistakes. It is in these “affirming zones”
that an individual's creativity can become a springboard
for ingenuity and innovative leadership.
Having the courage to be vulnerable while being
expressive are a couple of the true markings of an
extraordinary leader. These individuals see themselves as a
servant of people, a champion of a cause, or the catalyst
behind a movement. So, what it really boils down to is that
leaders are just everyday people who take extraordinary
chances so that others may be heard, seen, and
