This bonus is designed to provide you with the basic
knowledge and tools needed to build and foster an
inclusive, socially responsive and welcoming workplace
culture. At its core, socially responsible frameworks aim to
promote a wide range of opportunities, respect for
differences, and collaboration across diverse perspectives
and backgrounds. Mind you, this is meant to be a starting
point for those new to framing your thoughts around
cohesive learning opportunites in your workgroup or
organization.
Understanding Social Responsibility
Social Responsibility is the recognition and valuing of
differences among people. In a socially responsible
workplace, employees come from different backgrounds,
races, genders, cultures, religions, and abilities. The first
step towards fostering a collective understanding of that
responsibility in the workplace is to acknowledge and
appreciate the differences between people. Some ways to
do this include:
• Celebrating different holidays and traditions
• Providing opportunities for employees to
share their unique stories and
perspectives.
• Encouraging diverse hiring practices.
• Offering training and education on social,
cultural and engagement with
different
communities.
