Understanding Civility
Civility is about ensuring everyone has access to
opportunities and resources, regardless of their
background or identity. A civilly engaged workplace
means that all employees are given the support and
resources they need to succeed and does not promote or
engage in hostile communication styles to advance one
ideology over another. Here are some ways to promote
civility in the workplace:
• Offer flexible work arrangements that
accommodate different schedules
and
responsibilities.
• Provide training and development
opportunities to all employees, regardless of their
position or background.
• Pay all employees fairly and provide
multiple opportunities for promotions and
advancement.
• Offer benefits and accommodations that meet
