Openly discussing strategies for promoting racial and
social equity within institutions, implementing anti-racist
policies, conducting audits, and establishing accountability
mechanisms in partnership with those closest to the harms
identified, can accelerate change and send a clear message
that you value them. In doing this, engaging with
stakeholders and fostering collaboration in the drive
towards sustainable change can become a competitive
advantage.
Conversations about race can be challenging for some,
but they are necessary for progress to be made. Effective
communication techniques and strategies for leading
difficult conversations about race and equity are key to
becoming comfortable engaging in conversations that
cause anxiety for so many of us. Especially when we are
afraid to make mistakes that offend others. I would
encourage you to face that fear and lean into that
discomfort. Leaders should develop the ability to provide
