appearance of diversity without being given equal
opportunities to impact culture or have their contributions
valued in the same manner as those of their colleagues.
Anti-blackness can be reflected in the underrepresentation
of Black people in leadership positions and decisionmaking roles within organizations or teams.
A hostile work environment may arise when anti-black
sentiments are tolerated or prevalent. This can create a
toxic atmosphere for Black employees, making it difficult
for them to feel safe, valued, or able to contribute
effectively. Anti-blackness may also result in harsher
disciplinary measures for Black employees compared to
their non-Black counterparts, even for similar infractions.
Unconscious biases may contribute to anti-blackness in
organizations or teams, affecting how Black people are
perceived and treated. Addressing anti-blackness in
organizations or teams requires a commitment to valuing
people as they are and how they contribute to yor
