When Leadership Matters
and adapt to new circumstances, leaders can inspire their
team to do the same.
In the role I’ve been in for the past few years at my
current organization, our leader (Dr. Amy Morrison)
models collaboration in the most important of ways. She
asks for and encourages feedback on important issues from
everyone at the table and takes that feedback to heart. It
empowers us to act as a team and make decisions that are
inclusive of all our perspectives. I’ve so appreciated this
approach because it informs in many ways what trust
among leaders should look like when it is void of ego. In
her leadership style, Dr. Morrison intentionally checks in
on folks at all levels of the organization and being
approachable is one of her super powers.
Finally, leaders must prioritize continuous learning
and development. They should encourage their team
members to seek out new skills and knowledge and
provide opportunities for growth and development. By
investing in their team's development, leaders can build a
culture of innovation and adaptability that enables people
within workgroups, and the organization to thrive in the
face of adversity and harness the power of change.
