approach to leadership, with several easy-to-understand
glimpses into what leadership is with easy-to-reference
tools for leading in everyday life. Through trial and error
and a myriad of life experiences, I have discovered that
there is no single successful approach to leadership–there
are many.
This edition will enlighten us and show that we each
have the capacity and ability to lead when leadership is
required. I firmly believe that leadership is a learned
behavior, and while there are certain inherent
characteristics or traits of leadership, it is the combination
of natural and learned traits that distinguishes proven
leaders from failed ones.
My desire was to present a body of work that is not
saturated with the technical, academic language of
leadership yet still addresses critical areas of importance in
a manner consistent with how the average person thinks,
acts, and responds when leadership calls. I wanted to put
forth a project that would appeal to students, civic leaders,
business leaders, managers, and advocates of all sorts who
strive to change the world by their presence with a desire
to lead and drive change.
