Integrity in leadership is one of the new moral
dilemmas facing leaders in every aspect of business and
life. Having the ability to lead from a position of integrity
requires courage. A courage that defies logic and
emboldens one to have the resolve to do what is right even
if it does not benefit them to the same degree as it does for
those they serve. We sometimes find that in leadership,
integrity is one of those things that can corrode over time
primarily because people are motivated by different
things, influenced by different things, and have differing
sets of circumstances that impact their personal lives from
day to day. These pressures can corrupt from within.
When leaders are tempted by opportunity and give in
to that temptation, trouble will soon follow. Self-serving
opportunists, by nature, have their own agendas, agendas
that bring their own sets of influences that can often be
difficult to resist. Leaders are faced with this dynamic all
the time and must find ways to balance integrity,
stewardship, and ethics. Having only one of these traits
upon which to stand would leave you vulnerable and
exposed to destructive forces that are difficult to resist
because they are disguised as great opportunities but are,
