Leaders who have a sense of compassion will often
look for the opportunity to create win-win scenarios in
compromise. They inherently recognize that there are
multiple ways to define victory in a compromise. Integrity
is a fundamental cornerstone of effective leadership, and it
is critical for leaders to maintain ethical standards when
making decisions that affect others. Leaders who disregard
boundaries and prioritize their own interests over their
constituents' welfare compromise their integrity and
credibility as leaders. This behavior can have a significant
negative impact on the organization and its stakeholders,
eroding trust and causing irreparable damage to the
leader's reputation.
Boundaries are ethical guidelines that leaders establish
to protect themselves and others from harm. These
guidelines or boundaries are essential for leaders to remain
accountable and ensure their decisions do not negatively
impact those around them. Leaders who ignore boundaries
are prone to disregard the impact of their decisions on
their stakeholders and focus solely on the desired outcome.
However, such behavior is shortsighted and can lead to
disastrous consequences in the long term.
